Civil Engineering Business: Semicylindrical slit caisson (DAC) construction method
The construction method for reducing the wave power transferred to the breakwater by using a semicylindrical slit.
Outline of the
construction method
The semicylindrical slit caisson has a semicylindrical wave dissipating structure on the front side of the caisson composing the breakwater, which was developed to stabilize the breakwater and provide transport safety by reducing reflective waves.
Patent: No. 3051343
dissipating block and semicylindrical slit caisson
Characteristics of the
construction method
The semicylindrical material and slit cuts the height of reflective wave by 90% (experimental value). By reducing the wave power, it improves the stability of the breakwater.
This method cuts the impact crushing power by 50% (experimental value). It is particularly advantageous under conditions in which impact crushing power is generated.
Compared to the dike covered with the wave dissipating block, the deeper the water depth, the more economically efficient the structure.
